Meet  The Pastor

My name is Pastor Prez Jackson

President/CEO

Prez E. Jackson, born on November 5, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee, is a devoted minister, preacher, and community leader known for his unwavering dedication to spreading the gospel and serving others.

Graduating from Hamilton High School in Memphis in 1974, Prez embarked on his spiritual journey early in life. He obtained his ministerial license on August 12, 1979, and was ordained as a Gospel preacher on June 5, 1982. Throughout his ministry, Prez has tirelessly worked to extend his outreach, particularly focusing on ministering to individuals within prisons and juvenile facilities.

On August 11, 1984, Prez exchanged vows with Corlis Harden, beginning a loving partnership that would see them through the joys and challenges of life. Blessed with five children—three boys and two girls—Prez and Coris have instilled in them the values of education and faith, resulting in all of their children achieving college graduation. Additionally, their family has expanded to include four grandchildren, each of whom has also pursued higher education.

Balancing his spiritual calling with a commitment to professional excellence, Prez embarked on a career at Memphis Light, Gas, and Water in 1991. Over the course of 32 years, he dedicated himself to his work, culminating in a supervisory role in substation maintenance and construction during his final three years with the company.

In addition to his corporate responsibilities, Prez accepted the role of pastor at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church on December 14, 1997, further solidifying his place as a pillar of the community. He and his family currently reside in Olive Branch, MS, and commutes at least 2-3 times a week, a little over 60 miles one way to the community and church. Prez's leadership and spiritual guidance have left an indelible mark on the congregation.

Ever committed to personal and spiritual growth, Prez pursued higher education and, on December 6, 2015, achieved a milestone by earning his Master's Degree in Biblical Studies with a concentration in Pastoral Counseling from Midwest Theological University. This accomplishment underscored his dedication to deepening his understanding of scripture and enhancing his ability to serve his community effectively.

Prez E. Jackson continues to inspire others through his unwavering faith, commitment to family, and tireless service to both his congregation and the broader community. With each passing day, his legacy of compassion, integrity, and leadership continues to enrich the lives of those around him.

       Deborah Gaines/Secretary/Treasurer

Debra Ann Gaines, born on December 12, 1968, in Sledge, Mississippi, has dedicated her life to serving others with love and compassion. Raised in the heart of Sledge, she received her education from the Quitman County School District, graduating in 1986. Inspired by a sense of duty and adventure, Debra enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduation, spending three years abroad.

Upon her return to the United States, Debra married Charles L. Gaines, also a serviceman, and together they embarked on a journey that led them from Texas to Alabama before returning to their beloved Mississippi in 1997. In Sledge, Debra lovingly raised her family of eight girls and three boys, creating a warm and welcoming home where children from all around flocked to play in her yard, earning her the affectionate nickname "Miss Bay."

An active and engaged parent, Debra volunteered tirelessly at her children's schools, offering her support and assistance wherever needed. In 2013, she began substitute teaching in the North Panola School District, treating her students with the same care and attention as her own children.

In February 2021, Debra's path took an unexpected turn when she joined MississippiCoats4Kidz, a nonprofit organization that provides winter essentials to those in need. Embracing this opportunity with her characteristic dedication, Debra has become an invaluable asset to the organization. Her commitment to serving her community and her unwavering kindness make her a shining example of selflessness and compassion.
